HER Sacred Medicine

From Silence to Self-Worth: Dreams, Betrayal & the Strange Ways Spirit Speaks

Sarah Dyer Season 1 Episode 1

The Sacred Feminine has a language of her own — Spirit speaking in whispers, signs, and “dream telegrams” — if we’re willing to listen. She  doesn’t just whisper through holy books or rituals—she speaks through dreams, signs, and the natural world, if we’re willing to listen.

After my grandmother passed away, her essence appeared as shimmering light in my room, teaching me that love transcends death and the veil between worlds is incredibly thin.

In this first episode of Her Sacred Medicine, I share my own journey of betrayal, grief, and awakening—and how Spirit began sending me messages in the most unexpected ways.

✨ Inside you’ll hear:

  • How premonitions and “dream telegrams” softened the blow of difficult truths
  • The sacred medicine carried by animal messengers — from a midnight lamb bringing innocence, to peacocks shimmering with visibility, to twelve horses storming in with freedom
  • Why women’s circles are vital sanctuaries for healing, transformation, and remembering our authentic selves
  • What sovereignty really means: trusting your inner voice, holding boundaries like sacred gates, and knowing you are enough
  • The truth that your story holds medicine the world needs — and that the Sacred Feminine is alive within every woman who has risen from the ashes

This episode is both story and invitation: a reminder that your voice matters, your story holds medicine, and the Sacred Feminine is rising through every woman who has learned to rise from the ashes.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to Her Sacred Medicine, a space to reconnect with your inner wisdom, power and medicine. Every week, we'll dive into conversation, practices and stories that awaken the feminine within. This is a place for transformation, for remembering who you truly are. I know this because I've been there. Her Sacred Medicine was born from my own journey of alchemising pain into power, of finding the gold in the shadows. And I'm not the only one. You'll hear from incredible guests who have walked their own sacred paths, sharing their wisdom, medicine and stories of transformation. This podcast is here to guide you back to your own medicine, sharing their wisdom, medicine and stories of transformation. This podcast is here to guide you back to your own medicine. With meditations, soul journeys and real conversations, you'll find the wisdom, healing and sacred practices you need to integrate into your life. Join us on this journey of remembering and don't forget to subscribe so you never miss an episode. Mmm, so take a breath with me here.

Speaker 1:

I'm sitting by a lake at the moment. It's the most beautiful spot and there's a few people mulling around, so you might hear the children playing from time to time, but it's all good. It's all good. So take a breath, deep breath in and deep breath out. Just relax. Gift yourself now, this time, to go on this journey with me, listening to the language of the sacred. So just imagine that we're walking together, just you and I, in this sacred space, beneath the open sky, listening to the birds, the children. You can hear them, I'm sure, the small movements from the animals, the hedgerows. This is the language of the sacred. It's speaking to us all the time. It's all around us, just if we know how to listen.

Speaker 1:

Ah yes, so 20 years ago I learned something that would change me forever my nan, my soulmate in this lifetime well, one of them. She was like a second mum to me. She passed away while I was skiing in the French Alps and I'd always feared that day. So the morning I got that call, I literally sat frozen at the edge of my bed. I could feel a panic rising in my chest as I was literally about to have a panic attack. But then it wasn't a thought, not a memory. It was a shimmering, translucent light, swirling and literally dancing around the room, dotting about Her essence, filled that room. Her presence wrapped around me, and that changed everything for me. That changed everything for me. Without saying anything, she was letting me know she was still with me and she was never going to leave me. It was one of the most magical moments I've had in my life and it anchored a deep truth in me that love never dies. The veil between this world and the next is so thin and spirit speaks to us always.

Speaker 1:

I've had premonitions since a child, so these started around the age of five or six. Just small things would come and go, not a great deal, but I would get glimpses of things, of events that were going to happen, and then, a few days later, that would then materialize. Sometimes, these visions about people I knew, they're always about people that I knew they would arrive days before reality really caught up. Sometimes they'd come as warnings as I got older and when I was younger. They were just little glimpses of things, that's all they were, and it was never really anything. It wasn't anything profound, profound, um, but it was enough to show me that, oh, something I was seeing into something I didn't really understand what was what was happening? Um, and as I got older, a lot, lot older, these were coming more as a preparation, really from my higher self, from spirit, to soften the landing. So the truth wouldn't knock the breath out of me. And I've really found that, particularly in recent years, these premonitions have come to me to really help and guide me on my path and just be like spirit's way of showing me that this or something similar to this is about to happen. But look, we're here, we haven't left, we're always with you and we're just here to let you know that You're not doing this alone. So to me, that's why I get these premonitions, because it's just ways of my own higher self preparing me and softening the blow.

Speaker 1:

I don't just get premonitions about warnings about not so nice events. I get them about other things as well. But my higher self and spirit seem to be able to really come through clearly, particularly in my dreams, dreams when there is something that I need to know. So after a breakup, things became extremely vivid, a lot, lot stronger, and every night, every single night, it's like spirit sends me these dream telegrams, usually a few days before life catches up.

Speaker 1:

And after the breakup I dreamt of a party, my ex looking all pleased with himself, and this woman practically draped over him. In the dream, it was so obvious what she was up to that I actually woke up, rolling my eyes like Spirit do I really need a front row seat to all of this? But, sure enough, weeks later she was pregnant. And then another dream came. This time She'd walked away, leaving him standing there like a spare part. That happened too.

Speaker 1:

Now, I don't tell this story to throw shade, though. Spirit does have a wicked sense of humor sometimes, and karma does have a funny way of coming back on us. But what it was really showing me is that my intuition had been spot on all along. And even when my voice was silenced my little dog's, but um, playing beside me, you can probably hear him. Um, bless him, he's so gorgeous and he's actually I don't know what he's doing right now. Actually, he's, um, what are? Um, what are you doing? What are you doing? You've come to join in. You've come to join in, haven't you? Okay, Um, so yes, uh, back to where. I was. Sorry about that, uh, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Even when my voice was silenced in waking life, my dreams never stopped speaking the truth. And it wasn't just in dreams, spirits started showing up everywhere, speaking to me through nature, through the animals, through the land itself. So it wasn't just in dreams, spirits, spirits started showing up everywhere and one night I could hear a noise at the front door. It's late, it's pitch dark outside and Milo, my little guardian, was kind of twitching his head from side to side like don't open that door, mum. But of course I did, and there it was.

Speaker 1:

Um, I kind of had to rub my eyes to make sure that I wasn't seeing things. But there stood a lamb just standing there on the doorstep like it had come to borrow a cup of sugar. Milo was just staring and I have to say what exactly do you want? I'm standing there thinking is this actually happening? Is this for real? And this little lamb is just looking at me, his little eyes like hello lamb is just looking at me, his little eyes like hello. I actually had to take a photo of this because, um, I didn't think people would believe me and by the time I grabbed my phone, the the lamb is just a little bit away from the door. But if you want to catch that photo, you can find it on my Facebook, it's, and it's also on my Instagram, by the way and you'll see this little lamb stand there. It's at night. She's right beside the door Well, just a little bit further away from the door, by that point, as I say, I'd try to get my camera.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, the lamb carried its own medicine. She was carrying her own message, and that was one of innocence, purity, the reminder that even when life feels heavy, spirit can meet us in the gentleness. It was as if the sacred feminine herself had come to say there is still a tenderness in the world. Don't lose yours. Um. A couple of days later, two peacocks paraded across my front garden, feathers open like fans, and beautiful colours just beautiful. And their medicine is all about visibility. It's a reminder that beauty isn't something to hide. It was saying show yourself, let yourself be seen in all your full colours.

Speaker 1:

Then came 12 horses breaking into the churchyard next door. One night, I kid you not I woke up to find them right outside my bedroom window. 12, and what does the number 12 mean is a sacred number of cycles and apostles and horses, symbols of freedom and world power. They weren't just random intruders, they were a stampede of liberation, rattling the cage I'd been keeping myself in. So while part of me was laughing because, honestly, how often do 12 horses crash a church service another part of me knew spirit was thundering in with a message you are free, it's time to reclaim your power. Stop caging yourself in, girl.

Speaker 1:

Not long after this, though, I then had a deer appear and I have to say I live in the country and I'm often having to be careful when I'm driving at night times, because they do tend to hop out of the hedges although this one was, of course, in my front garden, soft-eyed and still teaching me about presence and grace. Throughout all what was happening in my life, what felt like chaos at the time, um, this beautiful deer appeared just to remind me about presence, to remind me about grace, and to give me the message that everything was fine. Everything was fine. So every sign was a reminder that I wasn't abandoned, I was being watched over, I was being looked after by my ancestors, by the divine, by the great mother herself. So, sometimes in dreams, sometimes in peacocks, sometimes in lost lambs, at midnight and through all, I began to remember my voice mattered, my intuition was trustworthy and I was never truly silenced.

Speaker 1:

Spirit had always been speaking the whole time. I just had to learn how to listen again. These were all things to take note of when they come. What were you thinking at the time? You know what is their conversation. What is it that they are trying to show you? They are trying to show you that you're being held, you're being guided and you are part of something far greater than any pain that you experience. Yeah, you're always being held, always being watched, looked out for, and you're always being guided. This is the language of the sacred all around us, in the voices of those that we've loved and we've lost, of those that we've loved and we've lost. We can begin to listen to the sacred so much more by slowing down, asking for a sign, trusting the whispers that come. Take a deep breath.

Speaker 1:

And yet the story didn't end there. When the signs quietened and the world settled into an uneasy stillness, something else began to stir. This was when the women came, this was when the circle formed and this was when I began to remember a truth I had almost forgotten. After the breakup, when my world felt hollow, the women began arriving, not all at once, but one by one. Women who had walked through fire, women who knew betrayal, they knew heartbreak and they knew the ache of being silenced. We gathered in circle, we prayed, we chanted, we sang, we sat in candlelight and spoke truths that had been locked away for years. We laughed, we cried, we sang, and we just shared these sacred moments, which were transformational, healing, bringing us all back home More to ourselves. Every time we met, and in that space I'd birthed my first mystery school.

Speaker 1:

It didn't come from a textbook or a carefully planned curriculum, a carefully planned curriculum. It came from my dreams, the signs, the whispers of the spirit and the medicine of the sacred feminine that had been carried with me through my darkest nights. It came from lived experience, from the messages, from my prayers to the goddess. The goddess had been calling me long before I could name it. I've always been one to light candles, to burn incense, to create altars and pull guidance from Oracle, from my tarot cards, to sit with others and read for them, and went on to do many readings, um, for hundreds and well, hundreds and hundreds of people. And sorry, my little dog's jumping around behind me here, he likes to join in um. So, yeah, and I just I loved all of it. I loved all of it. I was drawn to all of it, drawn to all of it. Um, in fact, spent many years in mediumship in the intuitive arts and the healing world at the Arthur Finlay College, which we called Hogwarts backwards and forwards, on different residential week-long courses and beautiful place, met many lovely people there.

Speaker 1:

So there was a moment, one I haven't spoken about yet, that shifted everything for me, and it was a day that I realized actually it wasn't just a day, it was kind of more of a unfolding. It wasn't literally just a moment is what I'm trying to say, but it was like I could no longer wait for someone else to give me permission to live my life the way I wanted to live it, and that keeping the peace at the cost of my own truth was slowly chipping away at my own soul, at something inside me to shrink in order to make someone else or others feel comfortable and I'm sure you know what I mean by that if you're listening this. I saw it clearly. I would shrink myself a lot to fit into someone else's comfort zone, and that's one of the things that I could no longer do. Um, I was no longer available to people, please, in that way, um, where it's, where.

Speaker 1:

It was harmful to my own well-being, and so I began speaking up more and saying how I felt and what was really my truth. And I feel that's so important for women today, because women have women's voices have been suppressed for far too long, for far too long, for far too long, for far too long. But, as I mentioned, choosing to rise again, choosing to speak truth, choosing to stand more in my power, choosing to it wasn't a single moment. It was a thousand small choices, day after day, and I began slowly trusting more into my own inner voice again, um, at even when others didn't understand it.

Speaker 1:

And I mentioned in this because, even though I'd studied so much in intuition and I was teaching it in mediumship and the sacred feminine, um, I, I, because of my own experiences, um, in certain relationships in my own life, particularly with those closest to me, the ones that you trust and the ones that you don't feel are going to hurt you or betray you, or these are the, these, these are the most damaging kind, because they can be the most dangerous, simply because you know, if these people suddenly, for one reason or another, you have this kind of experience with them, then that really does affect your self-esteem and your self-worth, and that's the impact it had on me, and it was through my work with the Sacred Feminine, through my work with other women, through my work with Mystery School. This living experience was my Mystery School. Yes, I also began running a Mystery School, but this was my lived experience. It was the coming together, the sisterhood, the coming together with the other women that really helped me to heal, as well as them.

Speaker 1:

So I began trusting myself again. I began trusting my intuition. I learned to hold my boundaries like sacred gates not walls, but sacred gates. I stopped asking for permission to be who I am. I anchored my worth in the sacred, not in who stayed, not in who clapped, not in who followed, but in the unshakable knowing that I am enough.

Speaker 1:

This is what sovereignty feels like. It's steady, it's soft and it's clear, not because life is without pain, but because the pain no longer owns you. So this is the medicine I carry and the medicine I offer you. Your voice is sacred, your worth is non-negotiable. Spirit is speaking in your dreams, in nature, in the perfect timed whispers. Only you can hear grief for the living can be healed. Rejection, always know, is God's protection, and you are never truly alone.

Speaker 1:

So if you've been listening and something in you is staring. I invite you to ask for your own sign. Pay attention to anyone, anything that crosses your path, anything that makes you wonder, anything that crosses your path, anything that makes you wonder. Listen for the quiet voice inside, because your story holds medicine too, medicine that someone else in this world is also waiting to hear, and when that moment comes, you'll know. The sign you've been waiting for has always been walking beside you quietly, patiently. Has always been walking beside you quietly, patiently, waiting for you to remember Breathe.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so taking another deep breath here. There will be a link below to a guide to connect with the sacred feminine. To connect with the sacred feminine, and if this story has stirred something in you, if you felt the flicker of recognition of something, then I want you to know. You are part of this lineage too. The path of the sacred feminine belongs to you too. It lives in every woman who has ever risen from the ashes, who has walked through the fire.

Speaker 1:

This is your story too. Every soul who has ever dared to speak when the world tried to silence her, just like Mary Magdalene. But that's also another story for another day, her story. So take this as your sign your medicine is ready to be shared, your voice is ready to be heard, and when you're ready, I'll be here, walking beside you in the circles we create, in the spaces we remember and in the sacred stories yet to be told. See you soon. If you feel called to explore your own story, your own medicine, I invite you to take the next step. You can join me in circle, work with me one-to-one, or simply reach out and share what's been awakened in you. You'll find ways to connect with me in the notes for this episode and until then, remember the sacred has always been speaking to you. All you have to do is listen until next time.
